If you have a blog, you need to take care of your readers. What do I mean ? Well, let me ask you how many times have you surf the net for information and you find an article that just hit the spot. An article that answers your questions. An article that you connect to.

How do you connect and get what they want to read ? Well if you have a list or social media properties, survey them.

Lewis Howes made a good list for networking, but I think it applies here as well:

1. Ask insightful questions.

Before attending networking events, get the names of the people who are expected to attend and search social media sites like LinkedIn to figure out which topics they’re probably most interested in.

2. Add value.

One of the most powerful networking practices is to provide immediate value to a new connection.

3. Learn their ‘story.’

Ask successful entrepreneurs to tell you how they got where they are.

4. Share a memorable fact.

When someone asks, “What do you do?” don’t give a canned elevator speech about your company and career.

5. Keep a list.

What’s your routine after attending a networking event or meal? If your answer is, “I go home,” you’re probably going to miss out on opportunities.

6. Make small promises and keep them.

No matter how small a promise you make — such as sending an email or returning a phone call — delivering on that promise reflects on your character.

7. Reward your ‘power’ contacts.

Keep a list of your top five to 10 networking partners and do something each week to add value to one person’s life or business.

Snippet article from Lewis Howes Source

EDIT:

I stumbled into this great article from Lisa Angelettie This is so true.

I want to point out this from the article :

Identify and build a circle of people who you can let know that your blog post is live and will share it with their lists and their social media communities. The circle doesn’t have to be big. Even if you only know two people, that will put your content in front of a lot more eyes than doing it all on your own. These could be friends who also blog, coaches you’ve worked with, or alliances you’ve made on social media.

Source

Seth Godin calls this Tribes!

Build a list of like minded people ask them what they want and provide that information. Use Lewis Howes article as a guide to develop great relationship with your circle of people.

Without a doubt pre selling is the closest thing to word of mouth marketing. The most effective sales tactic is word of mouth. That is a hot referral.

However, the second closest thing to word of mouth is effective pre selling. It is very important to note that pre selling is not the same as having another sales page. No it is not and that is a big mistake many people make. Think of it as a warm introduction. Your job is to clear any doubts or to answer the question from an outsider point of view [ if you are an affiliate make sure to disclose it].

Ok, I get it but What Makes a Killer Pre Selling ?

Try to create curiosity by asking a question that has some positive and negative feelings i.e. Have you ever felt so accomplished in your life that negative people don’t affect you anymore ? [Headline]

Explain who is the person or people that you are pre selling for i.e. Tim Ferris is a business … and such and such…

2nd paragraph should be why you bought from them. Tell a Story that people can relate to. Be specific on the feelings that you went through

Tell what was your reaction was at first

Explain what the product or service is

Explain the problem and tell how painful is. Then explain the solution the product/service fixes give some Positives

Give some Cons

MAKE a clear call to action. i.e. If you are ready to tackle X problem from the root Click Here

Offer a BONUS – make it a no brainer *TIP your Bonus should be addressing some of the CONs

People Are Looking For Solutions

Relationship Selling is big in the Business to Business world. The same thing applies to the Pre Selling to Offer scenario.

This was a very exciting weekend in the Bay area at the Traffic and Conversion Summit edition 2013. My year could not have started better than this. 2012 was a year of learning and re-strategize my “business”

I quote because before this weekend I though I had a business. Fool I was…

My last event was PPC Classroom 2008. Fast forward to 2013 and I made a statement like that means that my business has been stagnant.

However, I do have to admit that I left the summit with a weird feeling that I’m going to explain later on.

Bottom Line Traffic and Conversion Summit 2013 was a big hit for me BUT I left with a bittersweet taste…

Let me tell you that if in 2013 you are just relying on search ranking traffic , you are slowly dying. I’m not kidding…

At Traffic Conversion Summit, Richard Lindner talked about recover a site after Google Panda and Penguin.

Well he talked about the Panda Quality Score which looks like this:

[Static Elements] x [Quality Checks] x [User Experience] = Panda Quality Score

Yes sexy!

There was a discussion regarding if is worth bringing a site back to life. The answer depends on how deep was penalized and the revenue before.

Tip: EMD sites are not penalized BUT they don’t get that extraa boost. If your site went down in rankings, it is probably because it was missing a few items of the Formula mentioned.

T and C 2013

Perry Belcher and Ryan Deiss talked about the Channelization of Products

Internet has matured; there is a channel for every product [that someone has established]

Channels don’t disappear. They just change or consolidate

The Game plan is to create your channel. i.e. The place your crowd hangs out. Go for a small portion of a big market

Of Course Traffic and Conversion Summit is not what it is if they don’t talk about Conversions

This is where Live events are different from buying product “X”in CB or WF

Ryan and Perry gave basic numbers to start tracking and tweaking conversion.

Here are the Control numbers*:

Traffic to OPT-in : 30% [meaning for 100 people that see your squeeze page 30 sign up to your list. If lower than this then there is a big disconnection. Work to improve into the 40-60% good opt-in rate higher than that it is awesome]

Email Open Rate : 7% [People that see the the Headline of your email and open the email to read. Work your testing to get a 12%+]

Click Rate : 20 % [ People that opened the email 20% click a link to an offer. Work to get 40%+]

Conversion Rate: 5% [ People that buy, optin or have a desired action. 5% is the default anything more is a win]

If Conversion rate stays the same work on the other elements and by default your sales will increase. Numbers Game!

A lot has been said about Facebook, yet only us that are in the daily Facebook trenches understand what is going on. What do I mean ? I keep reading people saying that Facebook wants to take advantage of their promoting posts to profit… well yes , but that is not the reason why they just show content to some fans as some people claim is the case.

The reason is Edgerank… period. See below

The Facts

So why is this untrue? Let’s start by debunking some major flaws in the logic of Dangerous Minds. First, it implies that Facebook Pages previously reached 100 percent of their fans with every post. That’s never been true. Facebook’s news feed ranking algorithm (widely known as EdgeRank) chooses between hundreds or thousands of pieces of content each day to show the few dozen most relevant stories in each person’s news feed.

Facebook told me in February that the average Page reaches 16 percent of its fans with each post. That’s because some fans aren’t online when the post is published, a specific post hasn’t gotten much engagement from the people Facebook already showed it to, and because if you don’t interact with that Page when you do see its posts, Facebook will only show you them every once in awhile.

You don’t reach all your followers on Twitter with each tweet either. You could, except most people follow so many people that they only read parts of their stream. If Facebook did show all Pages posts in everyone’s news feed, it would be horrible. The feed would be full of lame marketing messages that would drown out your friends….More at Killing Rumors With Facts: No, Facebook Didn’t Decrease Page …

Obama memes and news spread like fire through Facebook during the elections. Why ? very simple. Edgerank. Due to the liking and sharing it ranked highly on most peoples’ Newsfeed. That is an extreme example. The key to make it big on Facebook is viral content.

It is a good practice to promote even more a post that has gone viral. Don’t be cheap spent $5 [budget] and promote a popular post.

Also, as a best practice make sure you connect with your fans through email. In case Facebook changes the way they do business, start creating contingency plans aka Email list.

To make this clear, here is a video to explain Edgerank

Main reason for Obama’s viral campaigns… and not Facebook bias as I have read…

So long,

Rob “Facebook Rouge” Molina

= Our Youth Doesn’t Seem To Know How To Channel Their Talent To Make Extra Cash =

With our weak economy, the new generations are encountering problems finding jobs. Are they talented ? YES !!! indeed but jobs nowadays require college education and experience. It reminds me of what came first the chicken or the egg ? Our Youth are having problems with this. They don’t get the chance to build experience and those that do sacrifice college education… Tough times indeed.

Last week an old article published in the 50′s was going viral over the internet. It caught my attention because it addressed a problem so relevant back then as it is today.

<img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-543" title="article" src="http://internetmarketinganhouraday.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/article.jpg" alt="make extra cash"width="491" height="304" />

Our youth has inherited the problem of thinking that going to college, being good equal to life landing things on your lap. In other words, the riches.

It is no longer the case. Young people now a days have to think out of the box to make extra cash. Good jobs and security is as false as the legend of Narnia.

Don’t get me wrong. There are minority of youngsters that know how to channel their creativity. Think about famous entrepreneurs. Love him or hate him Mark Zuckerberg channeled his talent to create the Facebook beast.

Take for instance a snippet of the following article :

With classmates Marcus Josefsson, an economics and math major, and Noah VanValkenburg, a government major, Garin developed a business plan for My Fresh Company. The idea was to create partnerships with farmers and producers in Maine and sell their locally grown and produced products through an online market. “Farmers want to focus on what they know best and do best, which is growing their crops, not managing an e-commerce site,” Garin says.

The trio, environmentalists with a passion for sustainable agriculture, won $10,000 in funding from the Colby Entrepreneurial Alliance Business Competition to launch the venture, which Josefsson refers to as the “Amazon.com of local foods.”

MyFreshMaine.com debuted in September 2011. The farm-to-front-door market sells produce like apples and potatoes and prepared products like bread and relish.

source

Without a doubt the internet it is a bless to the young when used for good (be proactive and productive to channel ideas into relality). Make extra cash for the young or old for the matter has never been easier without getting a part time job.

The internet comes with an inherit problem. It can be a big distraction… but I’ll get into that on another article and how to overcome that.

Well, how can a youngster make extra cash ?

There sites that offer services for a fee. Odesk is one. They can bid on jobs such as writing, web development or online marketing. Fiverr is another one. If you are good at making videos, offer the service for $5 at fiverr.

Those are the typical web sites and ideas that you can get on the web.

However, I recently read a report by Paul Forcey. His book is a must have. If you have teenagers or young adults that they don’t know what to do with their life, pay it forward and gift them a copy of Paul’s book. You are giving them a business blueprint to explode their talents. His book may sound as make extra cash formula but trust me, it has sound foundation for nurturing talent and monetize it.

In other words, if you market or plan to using both platforms, you need to read his analysis of the topic great read: article

But I would be remiss to close out this post without mentioning one key difference between Google+ and Pinterest that might affect your decision to participate in the networks: Pinterest users are mostly women, while Google+ users are largely men. Okay, let’s dive into some data and raging gender stereotypes for just a minute, courtesy of Remcolandia:

83% of Pinterest users are females between 18 and 34.

Most Pinterest posts and photos are about design, fashion, and home decoration.

63% of Google+ users are men, who tend to post about technology.

Two of the biggest user groups on Google+ are college students and software developers.

83% Pinterest users are Female WOW! Keep that in mind if you market to that segment. No surprise on the design and fashion since the site is all about pictures.

I agree that the Google plus is more about tech talk. A lot of programmers and software developers hang around Google.

Hi Guys/Gals found this article about Google semantic search changes that are coming. If you are into SEO you need to understand what the changes mean to your business.

I warn you that you may need to change your business plan and revise it accordingly ASAP.

Furthermore, start thinking on a branding strategy.

What are these changes?

This could be the beginning of the end of search results as we know them. Google has been slowly integrating answers into search results for the past few years for currency conversions, flight numbers and simple questions, but this announcement is the start of something much bigger.

If you have made for adsense sites (MFA), you better start thinking on a make over or flippa market place…

What are the positives?

Users – If the results are good, it will be better for users because they will get the information they were looking for more quickly.

Google – Provides a better experience for users than other competing search engines. Moves Google away from just been the doorway to the internet and keeps users on Google, thereby increasing their ad-revenue potentials.

Website owners – Trusted sites which Google uses to serve ‘answers’ to questions will see its influence increase significantly in terms of the exposure of their content.

Advertisers – Google could provide new advertising formats within the answers section for advertisers to buy on either a CPC or CPM.

What are the negatives?

Users – If the results are wrong or deemed incorrect (it’s a moral maze, how should Google answer this question: “Was Hilter evil?”) this could irritate users, particularly when the answers are personalised based on previous search history.

Google – Could open itself up for significant criticism to some of the answers that the algorithms provide.

Website owners – Google will show larger snippets of content directly within the search results and as a result, will lose traffic going through to its websites and the ad-revenues that it can get from the traffic.

Advertisers – More reliance upon Google as traffic.

Source

If you are a small business, this is a huge opportunity to get your business out. This is wide open for product creators…

Please plan for success – think long term authority sites, authorship ranking, and social media influence

I have to confess that pay per click is may favorite traffic medium nowadays and mistakes with PPC will happen. I found this nice article by John Lynch source that has some common mistakes new people make with PPC.

Although they common mistakes are very basic and you may think is common sense, the mistakes are made time and time again. Make sure you have a check list for this while you are creating your campaign.

10. Not Using Geographical Targeting
9. Not Using Site Exclusion
8. Failing to Recognize the Existence of Match Types
Exact Match: Triggers ads only when the exact phrase “red kite” is queried.
Phrase Match: Triggers ads that include the exact phrase “red kite” and any words or phrases that surround it such as “red kites” or “red kites miami.”
Broad Match: Displays ads for an even wider range of keywords, including variations that only loosely match such as “fly kites” (although more control can be used through broad match modifier
There is significant opportunity within each of these keyword umbrellas. For example, broad match keywords often have a lower bid price than their exact match counterparts, and can be relatively controlled with an abundance of negative keywords. Additionally, you can find opportunity in the long-tail with specific high bids dedicated to longer tail keywords with less search volume.

7. Not Utilizing Negative Keywords

6. Not Separating Search/Display Campaigns

5. Being an Adwords-only Organization

4. Selecting keywords that are too broad

3. No Ad Testing

2. Sending Users to the Homepage

1. Not Conversion Tracking

I believe the mistake most people overlook is not using negative keywords. If you are not filtering negative keywords, you are wasting a lot of money. For example, if you are selling your own product, you do not want to appear when someone types F R E E along with you keyword. You want buyers so someone that is typing that keyword most likely is not going to spend any money…

When you are starting out with PPC try to go for exact match even thought it may be more expensive. the reason why is because the people typing that exact keyword is looking for that relevant term. MEGA TIP: pick 2-3 high volume Keywords and build three landing pages one for each Keyword and optimize for a great quality score. Use the data gathered to optimize your pages and message. If you are not converting (conversion can be a sign up,sales, or desire action), your ad to landing page is having a disconnection - your message is not resonating with your market.

Lastly, if you are getting a lot of clicks from a site but they are not converting, exclude the site to appear on your campaign. In other words, you are getting traffic from a web page that may not be the ideal customer – you are just getting clickers…

As you can see PPC is not that simple there are a lot of variables to take into account. However if you pay attention to common mistakes with PPC you can turn into a positive return of investment.

Social Media it is a really young marketing strategy. Companies are learning how to leverage Social Media to create brand awareness. For example, many artists use their twitter account to create awareness for social issues or to promote their sponsors (this is true with sports figures).

However, you don’t have to be a rock star or sports titan to enjoy the ‘collateral damage’ of a social campaign

And companies now … are trying to measure that. They’re trying to quantify how well people can create buzz. And as you can imagine, a lot of big companies and brands want to be all over this. They want to find powerful word of mouth influencers and reward them and give them stuff. I mean, lots of great stuff like trips and gaming systems.

Source

Social media is getting leveraged by experts. Are you an expert on your field? you don’t have to be… Make sure you are active in your online social communities always contributing with useful information – be a social influencer . In a few weeks, you will see the full effects of your campaigns.

Part of a successful SEO campaign is keeping records of your tweaks and in today’s SEO environment tracking events is a necessity. What kind of events ? Likes, Tweets, shares, and so on… I stumbled upon into a post that has a really cool script for tracking events:

The framework of your event tracking script looks like this:

onClick=”_gaq.push(['_trackEvent', 'Category', 'Action', 'Label', Value, false]);”

There are a couple of things you need to remember when you customize the various fields in the script (e.g. “Category”):

You must fill in the Category, Action and Non-Interaction fields
The Value and Non-Interaction fields do not have a single quote around around them like the others
If you choose to omit the Label or Value fields, also omit the single quote but not the comma that separates them from the other fields. In this example I’ve ommitted both fields, but not their commas:

onClick=”_gaq.push(['_trackEvent', 'Category', 'Action',,, false]);”

The Non-Interaction field can only be set to true or false (remember: no quotes!)
Now that you’ve set up the script, you should place it within the href component of any link you are setting up. Here’s an example of what it would look like:

Follow us on Twitter!

The final piece of the puzzle is adding the event as a goal in Google Analytics.

Click the gear icon in the upper right corner of the Google Analytics profile you’re setting up the goal in
Using the sub-navigation where your Profile information is listed, select the Goals tab
Choose the goal set you wish to add the event to (I like to categorize my goal sets)
After you name your goal, select the Event radio button
You now need to populate the event details exactly how you set them up in your script. If you omitted a field, just leave it blank

If you have an important post or a post that is getting a decent amount of visits, you should install the script and keep tracking of events such as likes or tweets. Make your post viral perhaps offer extra content for a like or a survey. Take advantage of that and notice changes. You Should split test offers based on events. Tracking Events should make a lot of a difference on your conversion goals.
